How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days (Revised) Don't yell at your puppy or shove his nose in the mess he made. If your puppy is young please remember that we as babies weren't housebroke until we were two or three years old (and some of us much longer...:)The best thing to do is to put him outside.

Every thirty minutes you should place your puppy outside. Hopefully he will do his business regularly so that you can get on a schedule that you can remember or set a timer for. If you can't watch him when outdoors try placing the puppy in a pen or in a fenced in yard with toys. The last meal of the day should be about an hour or two before bedtime. He needs to be let out just before he goes to bed. He must not be able to run around the house overnight. Take him out first thing in the morning, after playtime, and after each meal.
