The charcoal water filter should be replaced every 60 to 90 days when the fountain is uses by one animal. If more than one cat or dog and any other pet uses the fountain on a regular basis the filter will require more frequent replacement. The submersible pump runs silently and a ramp reduces splashing and reduces the amount of noise that is created by running water. The pet fountain is equipped with non-skid feet to help keep the fountain from vibrating around the floor.
